Bark Air will commence operations on May 23, 2024.
Bark Air currently offers one way and round trip flights between New York and LA as well as New York and London. More routes will be added soon.
Bark Air is a public charter operator. It is not a direct air carrier and does not own or operate any aircraft. All flights are operated by a licensed U.S. air carrier.
The new company describes its business plan:
BARK Air is here to deliver a white paw experience. We built our flight experience for dogs first, from the ground up. Upon booking, humans will be contacted by a BARK Air concierge to collect information about your dog and your travel plans in order to give you the best overall travel experience possible.
On the travel day, dogs and their people will arrive at the airport 45-minutes to an hour before the flight for a simple, efficient check-in process – no crates, no stressful TSA checkpoints. A highly skilled BARK Air concierge will welcome all pups and help them settle in to their experience through socialization at the gate and dog-centric cabin preparation.
The cabin will be prepped with calming aids such as: pheromone, music, warm lavender scented refreshment towels, and other comforts to help each dog feel settled. Our concierge will also have a ‘just in case’ bag filled with calming treats, leashes, poop bags, and more will be provided at the gate. Once onboard, dogs will be served their beverage of choice (water, bone broth, you name it), during ascent and descent to ensure they do not experience any ear discomfort commonly caused by the change in cabin pressure. In addition, a variety of BARK-branded treats, snacks, and surprises will be served throughout the flight experience.
At launch, routes will serve the New York City metro area via Westchester County Airport (HPN) with flights to the Los Angeles area via Van Nuys (VNY) and London, England via Stansted Airport (STN). Through the partnership, a charter company is responsible for all aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance-related matters, while BARK is focused on creating and delivering a world-class air travel experience for dogs and their people. We are planning on adding new routes throughout the summer. Want to suggest a route? We want to hear from you! Suggest a route here to let us know where you’d like to see BARK Air fly next.
The new company partnered with Talon Air (New York), an aircraft charter company that will operate two Gulfstream G550s under the Bark Air logo. The aircraft can accommodate 14 passengers, but it will limit the number at 10.
