Jordan Reported Increased International Visitors’ Spending

According to data from the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, spending by international visitors in Jordan increased by 26 percent last year compared to the previous year. Official statistics reveal that the total expenditure of international visitors from various nationalities amounted to about 5.256 billion dinars in 2023, compared to 4.163 billion in 2022.

The statistics also show that the average spending per international visitor in Jordan was 827 dinars in 2023, compared to 817 dinars in 2022. It is worth noting that international visitors to Jordan represent foreigners, Arabs, and Jordanians residing abroad.

According to statistics, the highest spending by international visitors in Jordan was recorded for Arab visitors to the Kingdom. The volume of spending reached 2.262 billion dinars in the previous year, compared to 1.819 billion dinars in 2022. This is an increase of 24.3% or 443 million dinars. The percentage of Arab international visitors’ spending out of the Kingdom’s total tourism income was approximately 42.6%.

Spending by expatriate Jordanians amounted to around 1.597 billion dinars in the previous year, which is an increase of 18.6%, or 246 million dinars, from 2022. The percentage of Jordanian expatriate spending in the Kingdom’s total tourism income was approximately 30.1%.

Foreign international visitors spent approximately 1.394 billion dinars in Jordan during the last year, a growth of 46.2%, or an increase of up to 441 million dinars compared to 2022. The percentage of foreign international visitors spending from the Kingdom’s total tourism income accounted for approximately 26.3%.

The Central Bank released preliminary data that showed that tourism income during the past year increased by 2% to reach $7.4 billion, thanks to the increase in the number of tourists, which reached 6.354 million, with a growth rate of 25.8%.
