UK: Asset management company London Rock Partners has signed the luxury sustainable hotel Retreat East in Suffolk to its portfolio.
Regenerated from a former dairy farm, Retreat East features 26 barns and rooms available for individual booking or as part of a private event. The four-bedroom barns can cater up to eight guests.
On-site amenities include the Great Barn restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, which is supported by an organic kitchen garden.
The spa offers a sauna, steam room, private showers, outdoor jacuzzi, cold plunge experience and rainforest showers. Activities held at the property include cycling, axe throwing, archery, gym, nordic walking, yoga and more.
As part of its sustainability commitments, Retreat East has installed solar panels on the Great Barn to offset the use of traditional energy. The wood used in the barn stoves are sourced responsibly with 30 per cent of the wood harvested from fallen trees on site.
Water is sourced from the hotel’s own borehole which taps into an on-site well. A sewage plant was also installed in 2019, enabling the team to treat sewerage before converting it back into clean water. The water sources are tested every three months to ensure legal compliance.
To further its reuse and recycling efforts, food waste and other cuttings and prunings from the farm garden are composted and injected back into the soil.
Chief commercial officer of London Rock Partners, Clare Anna, said: “Managing Retreat East offers an exciting opportunity for us to showcase our expertise in luxury hospitality and sustainability. This partnership is a testament to our commitment to excellence and innovation and we’re excited to further enhance Retreat East’s exceptional offerings.”
