LOT Polish Airlines is opening a new route between Warsaw and Oradea. The carrier will embark upon its first flight to the city in the west of Romania on June 3, 2024. Flights to Oradea will be operated four times a week, all year round. Oradea makes up the third Romanian destination in LOT Polish Airlines’ network, following Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca.
The new connection to Romania kicks off on June 3 and will be operated four times a week, both in the summer and winter seasons. Flights to Oradea are scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. On Wednesdays and Fridays, flight LO655 will take off from Warsaw at 11:25 a.m. and return flight LO656 will depart Oradea at 2:35 p.m. On Mondays and Saturdays, flight LO657 will take off from Warsaw at 2.30 p.m. and flight LO658 will depart back to Warsaw at 5.40 p.m. The flight will be handled by comfortable Embraer 170 and 175 aircraft and will take approximately 1.5 hours.
Oradea, in north-western Romania, enchants tourists primarily with its Baroque, Art Nouveau but also Socialist Realist architecture. It can also be a starting point for exploring the surrounding natural areas, including the Apuseni Mountains. Visitors to Oradea will be treated to local delicacies – sarmale cabbage rolls, placinta cakes available almost everywhere or warm papanasi doughnuts.
With plans to expand its network to include 20 new routes, the Polish carrier wants to be the first choice and partner for passengers in Poland and the Central and Eastern European region looking for new travel offers. Flights from Warsaw to Oradea will be operated through a PSO (Public Service Obligation) cooperation with the Bihor region. As of 31 March 2024, Romania has been in the Schengen Area and therefore there is no longer a need to go through border control, which will significantly shorten the check-in process.
