Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has confirmed army assist plane will likely be deployed to the Center East.

An E-7A Wedgetail plane will likely be despatched to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to help within the defence of Gulf states Iran has attacked, the PM revealed on Tuesday morning. It comes after Defence final week despatched a C-17A Globemaster and a KC-30A Multi-Function Tanker Transport to assist repatriation efforts.

It has an over 7,000km vary to assist its long-range surveillance radar capabilities.

Albanese has reiterated that Australia is “not taking offensive motion towards Iran”, and these measures are primarily in assist of Australians who could also be caught within the area.

“The United Arab Emirates (UAE) alone has been pressured to shoot down over 1,500 rockets and drones,” stated Albanese.

“This rising wave of harmful and destabilising assaults from Iran places civilian lives in danger, together with Australian lives.”
