Caribbean: Family-owned company Ocean Hotels Group has opened the former South Beach Hotel on Rockley Beach as The Rockley.
The repositioning of the 49-room hotel was led by Michelle Leotaud of Apple & Iron, a Barbados-based design firm which created the interiors for nearby five-star sister property, the O2 Beach Club & Spa.
Amenities include a new outdoor covered bar and beach club, connected to an indoor dining area. The Rockley has also upgraded its reception, pool deck, and communal spaces, including the fully equipped fitness room and games room.
The hotel also offers a “Dine and Sign” programme whereby guests can visit partner restaurants across the neighbourhood and charge their meal to their room.
“We’ve reimagined The Rockley as an experiential, culture-rich hotel connecting our guests with the vibrant surrounding community,” said Ocean Hotels’ CEO Patricia Affonso-Dass. “From the cuisine to art and music, we welcome guests and locals to join us as we showcase and celebrate the very best of Barbados’ eclectic South Coast.”
In addition to The Rockley and O2 Beach Club & Spa, the Ocean Hotels Group portfolio includes Sea Breeze Beach House. The company has plans to be carbon neutral by 2025, having offset at least 40 per cent of one hotel’s electricity usage by its own solar farm.
