The 7-bladed MTV-47 MT-Propeller, known as “The Silent 7,” is now approved by both the FAA and EASA for even shorter takeoff distances, which increases the operational capability of the Pilatus PC-12, according to officials with Germany-based MT-Propeller.
According to company officials, other advantages of the installation of the Silent 7 on the PC-12 Series include:
No engine modifications necessary
Certified ground roll distance reduced by approximately 10%
Certified takeoff distance over a 50 foot obstacle reduced by approximately 15%
Climb performance improved
Aircraft noise level is up to 4 dB(A) less than with the original metal propeller
Due to the smaller diameter, the propeller has more ground clearance for less blade tip erosion and FODs (Foreign Object Damage).
The MT-Propeller natural composite blades have no life limitation and are repairable in case of a FOD, company officials added.
